How this ranking was built
Discovery Matt Food Map rankings are curated using a mix of public ratings, review volume, local reputation, steak quality, historical importance, Nebraska beef credibility, menu identity, and overall statewide appeal. For this Nebraska steakhouse ranking, extra weight was given to restaurants with strong local roots, clear steak or prime-rib identities, memorable dining experiences, and geographic spread beyond Omaha and Lincoln. Very close calls included Casa Bovina in Lincoln, Monarch Prime & Bar in Omaha, Omaha Prime in Omaha, Cascio's Steakhouse in Omaha, and Ruhlman's Steakhouse in Ashland. National and regional chains such as 801 Chophouse, Mahogany Prime, J. Gilbert's, and Fleming's were left off because of the no-chains rule. The Single Barrel was also excluded because it closed in downtown Lincoln on May 1, 2026.
